How effective is our online training? And how it differs from other courses?

Traditional remote sensing courses are only available in a limited number of educational centers worldwide. They are usually delivered within a short period of time with limited practical applications. Also, they include a huge amount of information delivered quickly, which does not suite the course duration. At the end of the course, the overall educational gain is limited, and the ability of performing practical work needs additional practice. Hence, we designed our online educational program to overcome all these problems as it offers the following:

Dividing the traditional courses to shorter specialized and focused ones, each of them is concerned with a certain mission or task, which will be explained in details with its practical application on satellite images while watching all the processing steps until achieving the task.

Delivering technical support through gathering frequently asked questions and any technical problems your colleagues faced, and also through emails according to the availability of our customer support team.

According to your actual needs, you can choose between learning one short course, a number of selected courses, an entire training level, such as RSSTM, RSPTM, RSSDTM, or more than one training level.

The courses were prepared under the supervision of an ERDAS Imagine authorized instructor who has two Master degrees in remote sensing from University College London, and AinShams University.

Delivering a testing and evaluation system in the field of remote sensing including three evaluation levels and certificates, which are (Remote Sensing Specialist – Professional – and Solution Developer).

We can guide you for getting discounted prices for the license of the ERDAS Imagine software used in our practical work through connecting you with its official distributor. Since you will pay only for your real usage during the training period, instead of purchasing a full license at high cost.

Flexibility in choosing your suitable training date and time.

More Comfort in choosing the best study environment (home – work – collage - other).

Avoid commuting and reducing the total cost, since you will not need to pay for travelling, accommodation, and class rental.

The capability of pausing or playing the whole lecture or any part of it as many times as needed during the course duration.

Can I have a technical support during training?

Yes, you can. We are delivering technical support in different ways, such as informing you with the frequently asked questions, any technical problems your colleagues faced, and also through emails according to the availability of our customer support team.

Does the courses available in classroom rather than online?

In the meantime we do not deliver classroom training, however, we have an authorization program that delivers certification for qualified people or centers to become certified instructors or certified educational centers capable of delivering our educational program in class while following our educational standard. If you are qualified to share in this program, please visit the "Partnership/Join Us" section in the main menu.

What are RSS™, RSP™, and RSSD™ exams and certificates?

In order to verify the efficiency of our trainees and enable them to prove their strengths in front of their professors or managers, we developed a Testing System with three levels of Evaluation certificates which are: Remote Sensing Specialist, Remote Sensing Professional, and Remote Sensing Solution Developer.

First, Remote Sensing Specialist certificate RSS™,

A certificate that covers 9 areas of profession in remote sensing learned in our first 9 short courses. It starts from a beginner level until reaching a specialist level in which you will be able to produce a professional map.

Second, Remote Sensing Professional certificate RSP™,

Which covers other additional 4 areas of profession learned in other 4 short courses. It includes advanced topics such as terrain analysis, image enhancement, 3D visualization and simulation for satellite images, and further more.

Third, Remote Sensing Solution Developer certificate RSSD™,

In this certificate you will learn step by step how to become a professional remote sensing programmer, and a solution developer using advanced block programing techniques.

The three certificates RSS™, RSP™ and RSSD™ respectively represent a normal sequence of educational levels. RSS certificate is the first educational level; RSP is the second level and RSSD is the third level. Accordingly; we recommend studying these levels respectively. However; those who have previous experience in the field and the used program (ERDAS Imagine) can start with the second level; taking into consideration that there will be a mark in the certificate referring to missing the first level’s certificate. They can also start with the third level and a mark will be in the certificate referring to missing the first and second levels. For more details, Click here to view the Certificates page.

Are the RSS™, RSP™, and RSSD™ exams difficult? Stressful? Do they include practical work? Are they open book?

The exam of each course is divided into two sections, with an optional 15-minute break in-between, except the exams of the courses 1 and 2. They include the first section only, as they don’t include a practical part that uses Remote Sensing software.

The duration of one exam section ranges between one and two hours for most of the courses. It varies from one course to another.

The first section of the exam tests the examinee’s understanding and learning abilities of the taught curriculum through Multiple Choice Questions. The second section represents the practical part which aims to test the examinee’s ability to actually implement several practical applications that were taught during the course.

The exam is an open-book exam without exerting any kind of stress on the examinees. We are not seeking to examine the trainee’s ability to memorize, but we are testing his / her level of understanding and ability to execute practical tasks and projects using real satellite images and a remote sensing specialized software. The examinee is allowed to view any reference book during the exam period. However, it will be very beneficial to write as many notes as possible during watching and practicing our video lectures in order to pass the exams easily.

To ensure learning discipline, certificates are only granted to those who have successfully passed the exam and proven their ability to apply the practical part as well as understanding the theoretical part. It’s worth mentioning that exams will be monitored by Webcams to confirm the examinee’s photo and cross-check it with the uploaded photo to our website for certification.

Questions are automatically generated for each student independently from our question bank through a special testing program.

Exam questions are from the curriculum and the marks vary in accordance to their importance. Key questions that test the main function of the course and the ability to execute major practical tasks will have the highest marks.

Can I Study the Courses without having exams?

You can enroll in any courses for training purposes only without attending their online exams, but in order to get the certificate of any course, you must pass its exam.

How long should I need to prepare for the exams?

The following table shows the approximate time needed to study, apply practical work, and prepare for the exam for each short course, measured in working days, supposing that each working day is 6 to 8 hours. Also the table shows the allowed duration for each course.

How much do they cost?

You cannot pay for only attending an exam, since payment includes all the following [video lectures – exam and its practical assignments – online support as described before – issuing the certificate]. Discounts are available in various cases in our price list and you can pay for either a complete Educational Level such as RSSTM or just one short course specialized in certain topic according to your needs .. Where and when can I have an exam? What are the exam's requirements?

The examinee should apply for taking the exam from the personal page of the student account in our website during the total validity period of the courses that the student has joined or slightly later according to available online test seats, since the number of examinees is limited in each test date.

Exams are conducted online using a desktop or a laptop provided by the student. Exams cannot be conducted using a mobile phone or tablet. You must have an “ERDAS Imagine” program, at least 2014 version or a more updated version. In case of the program unavailability, you can buy it at a reduced price for the license of the software used in practical work through connecting you with its official distributor. Since you will pay only for your real usage duration during the training period, instead of purchasing a full license at high cost .. You should also have a copy of a Folder named “Examples" that includes satellite images used during the course in order to be able to answer the exam questions. Some questions require the examinee to practically apply and send screenshots that show the steps and results. The utilized computer should be also connected to the internet and include a webcam in good working condition and pre-examined. The examinee is responsible of the validity and operation of these devices.

Regarding the Course number 13, the examinee has to be sure that he/she has a valid and fully running Virtual GIS Module on the exam date, since this module requires an additional license called “ERDAS Imagine Expansion Pack".

What is the exams' scoring criteria?

The scores vary in accordance to the importance level of questions. Key questions that test the main function of the course and the ability to execute major practical tasks will have the highest marks.

The total score is 100. It is divided between the two sections. The multiple choice section has a score of 25 and the practical section has a score of 75.The final result will be shown in a rating evaluation not in grades. Examinees who score 70% upwards will be granted “Distinction” in their certificates while those who score from 50% to less than 70% will be granted “Pass” -in this case, the evaluation will not be written in their certificates. Those who score less than 50% will not be granted a certificate.

In case of failing the exam at the first time, it is allowed to re-examine a second time upon paying 25% of the total cost of the course to reactivate the student’s account for ten more days, thus enabling the student to view lectures and apply for a new test date; provided that this will not exceed one month from the date of the previous exam. In case of a third attempt, new enrollment for the course should be applied for.
